Annual Carranza Memorial

Each July, Post 526 participates in Carranza memorial services hosted by American Legion Post 11 in Mount Holly.  Captain Emilio Carranza was known as the Mexican Charles Lindbergh due to his flying exploits but the young pilot died in 1928 while attempting to return to Mexico during violent weather.  Post 11 members came from Mount Holly to the crash site near Tabernacle to recover Captain Carranza's body.  Post 526 was not founded until many years later, but always participates in the ceremony since the crash occurred in our post's area of responsibility.
